Expected Results:
Short-term Outputs: Completing each case involves Results
Mapping (documentation of key variables), Benchmarking Process (efficiency),
Listing Outcomes (effectiveness), Identifying Critical Factors (barriers
& carriers), and Identifying Best Practices. Collectively these outputs
will be mapped against the actual outputs and outcomes of each transfer
project. This information will answer the three Research Questions presented
earlier.
Intermediate Outputs: The T2RERC will disseminate the
results of the retrospective case analyses to RERC's and other technology
transfer projects in year 3 of the grant cycle, with continued updates
of results from the prospective case studies in years 3 - 5: Fifty reports
(15 to RERC's on retrospective cases in 2005 and 25 on prospective cases
in 2008; Five to Federal agencies and Five to companies on retrospective
cases in 2005); Three Journal Articles (Two on retrospective cases in
2006 and one on prospective cases in 2008); Five Conference Presentations
(three in 2005 and two in 2008); Two workshops at conferences; and Two
presentations to the Technology Subcommittee of ICDR. The T2RERC expects
the information garnered through this effort will positively impact the
technology transfer practices of RERC's within the five-year cycle.
Intermediate Outcomes: The T2RERC fully expects the project
will improve technology transfer outcomes for all RERC's and for the A/T
industry in general. In year five, all RERC PI's and Program Officers
in Sponsoring Agencies will be surveyed to determine what impact the results
of the technology transfer study will have on the actual practices of
NIDRR funded projects and how they will alter the policies of sponsoring
agencies. It is imperative that we ensure that the results of this process
will positively impact the ability of RERC's to bring effective A/T to
people with disabilities.
