Title: Collaborative Roles in Defining Needed Technology in Visual Impairment

Mainstream technology is advancing at an astounding rate, yet many of the assistive technologies used by people with disabilities are based on antiquated concepts. In order to identify needed technology solutions it is imperative to collect information from those that are in a position to facilitate the inclusion of emerging technologies in the development of technology for people with visual impairments. As part of the 2003-2004 Demand- Pull project on technology for people with visual impairments has collected information on the market needs, the current status of AT, and the technology that is essential to meet the current and future needs of people with visual impairment.
