Five wheeled mobility-related assistive technologies have been previously determined by RERC-TET to be in need of further product development. During 1996, approximately approximately 150 consumers representing all U.S. geographic regions each further evaluated them. The devices evaluated are manual wheelchairs, wheelchair cushions, battery chargers, wheelchair tires, tie-downs, and restraint systems. The methods used and preliminary results are discussed in light of implications for manufacturers, vendors, and assistive technology providers.
